Using fluoride toothpaste and other over-the-counter products is a great start in maintaining your oral health. But, fluoride treatments provided in a dental office are an essential part of any good oral hygiene routine. It will strengthen enamel, make teeth more resistant to bacteria and prevent tooth decay.
At CornerStone Dental, we provide a fluoride product called Varnish. Fluoride varnish is a resin-based fluoride containing a 5 percent sodium fluoride. The “varnish” is painted directly onto the tooth. It has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and has a higher level of fluoride than can be found in over-the-counter products such as toothpastes and rinses.
After fluoride is applied at your visit, it’s important not to eat for 2 hours. Also, don’t use a mouthwash containing fluoride for the remainder of the day.
If you have any questions about the application of fluoride by our dental hygienists, please let us know. We are happy to address any of your concerns.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
