As we have re-opened our practice after the COVID-19 stay at home orders, I want to inform you and assure you of the additional procedures and precautions we are taking to keep you safe and healthy.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
We will look different than the last time you visited us. We will be wearing additional PPE that includes N95/Level 3 masks, face shields or safety glasses, and long, laundered gowns or scrub jackets. These extra measures will keep both our patients and our team members protected.
Office Safety Protocols
When you enter our dental office, you’ll immediately notice the difference. We are limiting the number of patients in our waiting room so that 6 feet can be maintained between anyone in the reception area. We have removed all magazines and the coffee machine from the waiting area to decrease items that can be touched by multiple people. You’ll see disinfecting wipes and we will have hand sanitizer for you to use. Our team members will most likely be wearing masks when they accompany you to the clinical area. When you check-out at the desk following your appointment, you will be asked to stand 6 feet away from the desk for those procedures. If you need a pen at check-out, you will be provided a clean pen and it will be yours to keep!
Aerosol Reduction
We are continuing to utilize high-speed evacuation equipment to greatly reduce the aerosols that can be generated in the treatment rooms. It helps to minimize aerosols from leaving the patient’s mouth. This helps us maintain the cleanliness of our operatories and helps keep all patients and team members safe.
Testing and Consent
We’ve invested in new equipment that will take your forehead temperature, and we will be using it on everyone who enters our office, including our own team members. Following the recommendations of the CDC, a team member will call you 1-2 days before your appointment to ask you several standard COVID-19 screening questions. As an added layer of precaution, when you arrive for your appointment, we will ask you to complete a questionnaire with similar questions.
All of the new equipment, PPE, protocols, and testing are being used efficiently and in an abundance of caution. Rest assured, it is safe to return to our office for care.
If you have any questions about our new procedures before your next appointment, please don’t hesitate to contact the office at (979) 968-9451. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Sincerely,
Dr. Karen Roberts
